About which fat is good or not good, it may be worth looking into a couple of things: a. Fat consumption changed after 1980s due to the unethical botched study of diet-heart hypothesis which maligned good saturated fat to save the deadly poisonous sugar. B. This led to production of refined oil and the process introduced or rather resulted into extremely high levels of omega 6 fatty acids into refined oil like soy, safflower etc. The ratio of omega 3 to omega6 is critical for us for various reasons and we do not get enough omega 3 unless we take cod liver oil supplements or eat animals that have been fed omega 3 rich foods (since most animals these days are fed grains and seeds which are high omega 6. C. Not all oils are created equal which means soy is different from canola is different from coconut in its omega 6 content. So different that coconut oil doesn't have any omega 6. Omega 6 leads to issues like inflammation, auto immune disorders, leptin resistance etc. I read this in Dr Andrew Jenkinsons book Why We Eat (Too Much) which he got inspired to write from the experiences his patients shared about weight loss. The book is for all humankind to read and learn the science behind metabolism and how our appetite works and why we get sick. Very interesting. However there are still a lot of unknowns in the area of fat and the field is still evolving. Consuming less fat is critical but consuming the right fat especially if omega 3 isn't balanced is also very important...per science.
